About Raj Fernando
Raj Fernando serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Scoutahead. In 2002 before establishing Scouthead, Raj Fernando served as Chopper Trading’s Chief Executive Officer. His career started as a volunteer at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange while in college. Here, Raj worked in different departments and on the organization’s board of trustees between 1991 and 2001. While at Chopper Trading, Fernando’s efforts were significant as the firm started to trade on the CME, Nasdaq, LSE, ICE, Eurex, and ICAP-Broketek. Besides, Fernando supported the Commodity Trading Futures Commission (CFTC) to accomplish its mission of maintaining transparent, competitive, and regulated markets. Furthermore, Raj was a panelist during the annual Rosenblatt Global Exchange Leader Conference in 2013. Later on, DRW Trading Group, a Chicago-based trading firm acquired Fernando’s Chopper Trading. As a result, Raj Fernando founded the Internet Startup in 2016, a company that focuses on improving business and professional growth and productivity through secured and modernized communication programs.
Besides business, Raj Fernando contributes a lot towards philanthropic efforts. Just recently, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra appointed Raj Fernando as the Chairman of its Board of Trustees. Besides, he serves on the Board of PAWS Chicago, an organization that advocates for animal rights. As a philanthropist, Raj Fernando would support humanitarian agencies such as the Clinton Foundation and Wounded Warriors. At one point, Fernando served on the board of the American Security Project as well as the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ board member. He also worked at the Foreign Policy Leadership Committee, which is located in Brookings Institution.
At one point, Raj Fernando served on International Security Advisory Board, the then Advisor to the State Secretary, Hilary Clinton. However, he stepped down after some time due to extreme volatility in the global-scale markets. Raj Fernando holds a degree in Economics and History from Beloit College. While at Chopper Trading, Raj Fernando embarked on maintaining a favorable working environment to increase productivity. Notably, Raj Fernando’s recruitment process is different from that of competitors; thus, he stands out the pact amid stiff competition in the industry. Raj subjects all his candidates to a screening process and training to ensure that he hires the right professionals.
